The puppies are growing and developing very well, so much so that at a young 9 days old some are even starting to see the world for the first time as their eyes are slowly starting to open. Since they were 2 days old we have handled them lots, including stimulation exercises and have introduced to the litter a couple of new scents each day.
After quite a long labour Extremus Indi BRN 21038 produced a very healthy 10 puppies, consisting of 6 Males and 4 Females, all dark brindle in colour. All the puppies are feeding well and appear strong and healthy, we will keep you all posted as things progress but for today we are leaving them all to rest and get acquainted.
Today the 31st January marked the 1st Birthday of our 2016 Extremus Indi BRN 21038 x Briarquest Riley BRN 26496 litter. AS you can see from the pictures above, Fury, Helga, Bolt, Baron, Lionel, Riggs, Afra, Leo, Bravo and Nox are superb specimens of their breed. Out of the above are 4 future Police Dogs and 3 Anti Poaching dogs.
Had a lovely update on two of the dogs we have bred and supplied to conservancies in Africa as Anti Poaching dogs. Extremus Polaris BRN 26263 and Extremus Rogue BRN 26262, now 17 months old, whom we bred, trained and supplied to the Save Valley Conservancy in Zimbabwe. Great to see them doing so well :)
This short video we put together should give you an insight into the quality and potential capabilities of our upcoming litter between Extremus Indi BRN 21038 x Rage BRN 26658. Combined with our puppy imprintment programme, this litter will be one to watch :)
Some fantastic news yesterday that our proposed litter between Extremus Indi BRN 21038 x Rage BRN 26658 has been confirmed by our Veterinary Surgeon, puppies will be due mid February and ready at 8 weeks in April 2017. This litter will be very special and one that we cannot wait to start our foundation imprintment programme with :)
Both Leo and Nox are now 10 months old, it is not long now before they leave to start their new lives as Anti Poaching Dogs in two separate conservancies in Africa. They leave in January 2017, Leo is of to protect wildlife at the Niassa Game Reserve in Mozambique, whilst Nox heads off to join up with Extremus Bo and Freddie at the Mkomazi National Park, Tanzania.
Over the weekend I traveled to Holland to spend some time with friends and to also collect our two newest additions, Heidi BRN 28156 and Raven (Jet x Jagger). Heidi will be going over to Africa at some stage next year and Raven will be added to our current stock of breeding females as her bloodlines are both complimentary to our current stock and exceptional in there own right.
Today we received the first photos of Extremus Freddie and Extremus Bo settling into their new roles as operational Anti Poaching Dogs at the Mkomazi National Park in Tanzania. Having bred, raised and trained both dogs we could not be more proud. Extremus Nox will be following them shortly out to Tanzania once his initial training programme is complete.
Yesterday Extremus Bo, litter brother to Extremus Rogue and Polaris, left us to start his new life at the Mkomazi National Park in Tanzania as one of the parks Anti Poaching Dogs. Like his two brothers we trained Bo to be dual role, in that he has been trained to both track and apprehend poachers alongside his new handlers, the parks rangers. All I can say is beware poachers as this dog bites... and bites hard.
Some good news today, both Extremus Indi BRN 21038 and Resa's Home Jade BRN 27564 have both been cleared of all genetic based diseases for FCI Breed Group 1 to which the Malinois and Dutch Shepherd belongs. This also includes Clear and "no carrier" of hip laxity. This type of DNA testing is something that we intend to continue to test as a minimum for any and all of our future breeding dogs to make sure that we maintain and increase the quality of health within the UK.
A very proud day today for Extremus Dog Training Ltd and the dogs that we breed and train. Two of our dogs that we bred, raised and trained have now been successfully deployed to their chosen conservancy and have started their new life as Anti Poaching dogs looking after the parks wildlife. Honoured to have been a part of this super project. We have more dogs going over to Africa in the coming weeks.
Over the weekend I traveled to Holland to meet up with some of my Dutch friends, they offered me the chance to decoy for a KNPV display held at a large camping site. The display was to raise money for the KNPV club Phv Rurrlo. It was an honour to be asked and apart from a very sore arm afterwards I loved every minute.
Coming up to 6 months old and progressing very well indeed with their dual role training, both Leo and Bravo are impressing daily. I cannot get over the success of our recent litter from Extremus Indi BRN 21038 x Briarquest Riley BRN 26496. With 3 x future Anti Poaching dogs and 4 x future Police Dogs, an outstanding achievement from our breeding programmes and foundation imprintment.
Some recent footage of Jade our newest addition and future foundation breeding female. Currently and still only 6 months old, she is proving every bit as special as we had hoped and is proving that she will easily go onto produce some very high quality offspring in the future. www.bloedlijnen.nl/?BRN=27564
Resa's Home Jade BRN 27564 will go on to become our new foundation breeding female in the future. Her power, drive and attitude shine through on a daily basis, combine this with her social and stable attitude at only 5 months she is already impressing in every area.
As the rangers utilise smoke grenades as part of their assault operations against the poachers they face, we felt it was a good time to start to expose our current Anti Poaching dogs to this type of operation. Alongside the helicopter training last week the dogs are now starting to get more and more acclimatised to their future as Anti Poaching Dogs.
On Wednesday I travelled to Saxon Air Ltd in Norwich with Extremus Rogue and Extremus Bo, two of our current and future Anti Poaching Dogs. It was a great opportunity for both dogs to get acclimatised to helicopter travel as both dogs will be expected to be deployed by helicopter once they are in their respective conservancies in July 2016.
